The times are changing, so are the priorities of students in terms of their career opportunities. The traditional jobs like doctors, engineers, writers, have been changing to new and innovative opportunities in the same fields. Like the field of engineering has given birth to many new sub- fields in the same like, bio- chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, etc, same ways, the field of medicine has come with many new job opportunities. One of them is pharmaceuticals, which is primarily based on the drugs, its research study and development for curing the diseases.

Pharmacy has always been in demand as a career option, many students opt this as their profession, due to the space for development and growth provided by the industry. One of the most lubricating factor of doing Job in pharmaceutical industry is that you get to learn a lot many things, all the advancements and growth in the field of medicine are well known by the pharmacists. They are in a sense also compared to doctors, due to knowledge and awareness about different medicinal facilities

Drug development, the origin of drugs, their use, effects, making process, chemical formation, are the few things which are studied by pharmacists in their course of education. In- depth study of all these factors, leads to the formation of a successful pharmacist, and is hence very useful for the organisation or the group with which the person is working with.

Jobs in pharmaceuticals can be mainly divided into:

2.)    Retail pharmacist

3.)    Industrial pharmacist

4.)    Research pharmacist

After completing their senior secondary education in the field of medicine, a student for doing a Job in Pharma Company, can opt for a two year diploma or a four year graduation degree in the same. Working in these sectors, a pharmacist must be instilled with the following qualities:

1.)    Knowledge about medicine and drugs

2.)    Should have a scientific approach towards work

3.)    Should have the ability to analyse things logically and methodologically

4.)    Should be a great academician

5.)    Should posses great communication skills, both in terms of written and oral communication, required for the marketing and sales professionals in pharmaceutical

6.)    A keen interest to gain knowledge about different types of diseases and the medicines available to cure it

7.)    People posted at the managerial jobs must have great management skills, should be able to motivate their employees to perform well in their job

8.)    Should posses great selling skills

9.)    Should have sufficient knowledge about finances and managerial functions

10.) For marketing jobs in pharmacy, the candidate should be able to present himself and his company well

Following are the professions as which a pharmacists graduate or post graduate can work, according to his educational qualifications and work experience he can be employed as:

1.)    Pharmacist in government or private hospitals

2.)    Can open his own medical shop, if having a diploma in pharmacy

3.)    Drug inspector

4.)    Research analyst or research associate

5.)    Chief pharmacist

6.)    Lecturer or professor in pharmacy

7.)    Drug controller

8.)    Marketing manager or company representative

9.)    Sales team for selling the drugs of the respective company

The profession of a pharmacists is of great value, by doing job in pharmacy an employee is not only adding value to his company’s profit, but also is a great source for the country as a whole to grow. Many pharmacists have helped the country in a great ay to come out of health crisis. The researches done in the pharmacy labs ahave helped us in getting away from many fatal diseases. There fore we should not only be proud of pharmacists, but should also encourage the profession.
