that it will assist students from universities in New Orleans,
southern Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama universities, which
have been closed for the foreseeable future due to the
devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Argosy University will make available both on-campus and online
courses that might be able to permit dislocated students to
progress in their academic careers during this semester of
disruption. Students at a university forced to close by
Hurricane Katrina may register at any of Argosy University’s 13
campuses across the nation for courses, on a space-available
basis, for the fall terms.

Argosy University will waive tuition for dislocated students
who have already registered and paid tuition at their home
institution for the fall 2005 semester. If dislocated students
have not yet paid their tuition at their home institution, they
will be assessed the lesser of the current published tuition and
fees at the home institution, or Argosy University’s published
tuition and fees, as determined by the Argosy University campus
president.

assistance to college students impacted by Hurricane Katrina,”

SEO will remain the most important tool in the arsenal of internet marketing for schools, colleges and universities. Prospective students perform research on search engines to select institution to apply for admission. Foreign students form a substantial proportion of student population in countries like USA, UK and Australia.

It is interesting to note from a random survey of college websites that basic SEO principles are not followed.

Not every search engine spider crawls dynamic pages (i.e., the URL contains a “?” character) as well as static pages. It helps to keep the parameters short and the number of them few. Web pages that are hidden behind search forms  (when people submit the form your website generates a page with content that is specifically written for that query) cannot be accessed by search engine robot.  Search engine robots don’t fill out forms or select from pull-down menus.

There are several solutions available to make hidden pages accessible : create a html sitemap with links to all hidden pages. If the number of pages is too large, create a xml sitemap and submit to search engines.

There are many tools available that will re-create a dynamic site in static form.  There are also tools that will re-write your URLs, if you have too many parameters, to “look” like regular non-dynamic URLS.

Frames are another big turn-off for search engine robots. When it comes to Big 10 rivalries, loyalties to U of M are fierce and passionate. There truly is no place like The Big House on a fall Saturday afternoon.

Since its inaugural season in 1927, the stadium has welcomed more than 35 million fans through its gates and more than 170 consecutive crowds of 100,000 plus. Many changes and renovations continuously improve the quality of the facility, while increasing its capacity to its present 107,501. In fact, its most recent project began at the end of the 2007 football season with plans for completion in August 2010. Improvements include elevated concourses with additional restrooms and concessions along both sidelines, a new press box, elevator and stairway access to bring patrons to the new concourses and premium seating areas, and much, much more. When completed, the project will increase seating to more than 108,000.

An oasis of nature, the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nicolas Arboretum are caretakers of the university’s natural heritage. The garden’s displays, natural areas, conservatory, trails and significant buildings invite visitors’ exploration – and provide students with some of the University’s best study spots.

One of the first outdoor gardens developed on the site, the Perennial Garden showcases color-coordinated waves of bloom from regional plants. A favorite site for weddings, the perennial gardens demonstrate an exuberant display, spring through fall. The Conservatory at Matthaei Botanical Gardens features the sights and smells of plants from all over the world. An exceptionally rare structure, the Conservatory is believed to be the largest free-span conservatory of its structural style. It represents a technological limit of architectural materials and climatic controls in a pre-computer era.

The Nichols Arboretum has an extensive but dispersed collection of native and exotic trees and shrubs masterfully crafted into a naturalistic landscape begun in 1907. The Arb presents one of the richest landscapes in the region, as well as a complex glacial topography that presents vast panoramas, broad valleys, and intimate dales and glens.

The museums and galleries of the University of Michigan inform and entertain visitors on a variety of topics. The Detroit Observatory appears essentially as it was in 1854 and the original astronomical instruments remain intact and operational. The dome is turned manually by pulling a continuous rope. Completely restored in 1998, the observatory is a cultural treasure waiting to be explored and is open for tours on select dates.

The Exhibit Museum of Natural History showcases the natural sciences and anthropology. Permanent exhibits include the most extensive prehistoric life collection in the State of Michigan, rare specimens in the Michigan Wildlife Gallery, and more than 700 rock and mineral specimens in the Geology section. Planetarium shows are offered on weekly on seasonal star talks and astronomy-related topics.

In June 2006, restoration on the University of Michigan Museum of Art’s historic Alumni Memorial Hall began. The .9 million project will more than double the museum’s space and enable it to accommodate temporary exhibitions, concerts, classes, and more. Through 2008 the museum will operate a temporary exhibition space immediately adjacent to the university’s central campus. The museum’s collections cover the continents of Africa, America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and more.

The University of Michigan also offers collections in anthropology, paleontology, zoology, and even a 2,500-piece showcase of historical and contemporary musical instruments from all over the world.

Cincinnati Schools Woodward High School’s Career Programs

Woodward High School, which is part of Cincinnati Schools, established its career technical programs in 2003 and these programs have been growing ever since. All high schools in the Cincinnati Schools follow a college preparatory curriculum but as part of the restructuring of high schools in the Cincinnati Schools, small specialized courses were developed. Woodward Career Technical High School is not only a resurrected small school but a replacement school for the razzed Woodward High School. Students began attending school in the new building in 2005. Theses career technical programs focus on the students’ needs for knowledge in the career technology fields and hands on experience that will give the students an edge in further education pursuits and the future job market.

The Woodward Career Technical High School is designed to give students a smaller, more centered learning environment that will better prepare students for their future. The success of these programs over the last couple of years has led to Cincinnati Schools developing seven more small, focused high schools housed within the existing high schools. Since 2003 the Woodward Career Technical High School has added one ninth grade class with the goal of being a full ninth to twelfth grade program. The redesigned building provides a corporate look and feel while housing the needed hands on laboratories. Over the next few years, Cincinnati Schools plans to redesign and rebuild all the high schools in the Cincinnati Schools system.

Cincinnati Schools’ Woodward High School’s Three Technical Programs

Cincinnati Schools has chosen as the three most important career technical programs as based on their potential in the future job market: advanced technologies, building technologies and health technologies. Students can choose which program is the best for them. The advanced technologies program focuses on the growth of automated and computer controlled manufacturing and the engineering principles needed to work in this field. The building technologies program prepares students to be leaders in the construction industry with a focus on computer based architectural design. The health technologies program educates students in health services careers focusing on biotechnology and medical laboratory work. With this in mind, Cincinnati Schools have team up with partners in the business world including Procter & Gamble Co.

Cincinnati Schools’ Aiken’s Public Service Learning High School

Another innovative high school program in the Cincinnati Schools is the Aiken’s Public Service Learning High School. This program focuses on service learning, solving real world challenges in context rather than students just completing community service hours. Students will be better prepared for college because they know how to deal with real world problems. The Aiken’s Public Service Learning High School program offers students the chance to earn college level credit for the work the students do. Students will have the chance to work with professionals in law enforcement, firefighters, and the emergency medical field. Aiken’s Public Service Learning High School will also have an intensive college preparatory program called University High School.
